What transmissions can I use in my 1998 Mark VIII?

I smoked the transmission in my 98 Mark 8. What transmissions can I use in it? I know it has to be a 98+ but does that mean I could use a 2006 4R70W transmission? What would it take to put in a 2006 4R70W?

I would know, because I am the great destroyer of transmissions...

1200+ shipping is a lot for me right now. And I can pick up a brand new one w/new converter (not rebuilt) for about $1050 shipped. I am switching to 3.73s and a posi form the 3.07s and also going with lighter weight smaller wheel than my big heavy chrome ones so those combined should add some life to it. I will also likely sell the car soon. I dont have time for its problems right now.

For the 150.00 difference in price.. you really cant go wrong with the Trans from Lonnie, especially if you are planning to sell the car.

It will make a good selling point that you have the best tranny available in the car already.

otherwise.. be ready to get "beat down" on the price you are wanting.

Remember that you publicly announced the car "has problems" when you set the price you want to get, people around here aren't likely to forget such a post..and that you save 150.00 and got some other tranny rather than "THE TRANNY" for your car.

Remember resale on Mark 8's is "CRAP".. you'd probably be better off keeping it and saving yourself from the "grief" of sale.
