Hightlights
We had a good
turnout for Friday. the first member to arrive was Bill
"DOHC" Hamilton, all the way from Charleston, South
Carolina.
People's choice
judging was on Saturday. The LOD cars were ready for
competition!
Our Club had our
own field and tent at All-Ford Carlisle 2000. Make sure
you make plans to attend All-Ford Carlisle with the LOD
June 1-3, 2001.
Part of LOD group
along with hundreds of other Ford owners at Carlisle
made the 20 minute trek to the Twin Kiss ice cream palor
and restaurant for a free ice cream cone. Every high
powered Ford made a ceremonious smoking burnout upon
exiting the palor lot. Geno in his 1995 SVT did the
honors representing our club. It was an exciting end to
a great day. To see video clips go to skid marks.

Club member Geno showed us
what his 400 horsepower 1995 Mark VIII "R" SVT could do
at the lot behind Twin Kiss. That lot is now rubber
coated. The videos below tell the story.

was done:

This 1961 Ford
was built by
Mark Moses of Moses Automotive in Toledo Ohio. In
addition to the interior engine suspension and
drivetrain of Mark VIII, it features a high watt sound
system and custom taillight lenses. The custom intake
runner from the mass air flow sensor to the trottle body
is a really neat item. Unfortunately, the mold from
which it was made was temporary, so no more can be can
be made. This would be a neat addition for the first
generation Mark VIII owners who have removed the engine
cowl. If anyone is interested in this type of piece
being produced, let us or Mark Automotive know.
This 1949 Mercury
is built and owned by Donald F. Lett of Hutchinson,
Kansas. It is a custom that uses the engine, drivetrain,
suspension, interior, and electronic accessories of a
first generation Mark VIII. Even the keyless entry
keypad is integrated neatly into the left door trim. It
is the way a 1949 Mercury would be built now.
This magnificent hot rod
displayed at Ford Carlisle is owned by club member Paul
Scheerer of Long Island, New York. He took a 1948
Lincoln Continental, the first Mark, and installed most
of the components of a wrecked 1995 Mark VIII. He used
the engine, transmission, and drivetrain and suspension.
The seats were cut down and installed in the interior.
All the power accessories such as the seats and window
drives were used. Even the computer message center and
remote gas tank filler door were used from the Mark
VIII!
A very neat and impressive job.
